Overclocked: A History of Violence Demo



Lighthouse Interactive and dtp Entertainment have put up for download a demo of Overclocked: A History of Violence. The game, developed by House of Tales Entertainment, will allow gamers to go deep inside a universe of madness, against the surreal background of Staten Island Forensic Hospital. The game is now available for purchase and the demo offers a piece of the action long enough to help you
make a decision on whether you like it or not.

As with all good horror oriented games, it features a huge thunderstorm that rages over New York as the player is called to analyze a patient at the Staten Island Forensic Hospital. As a former Army trained psychiatrist, named David McNamara, you get to take on the cases of five persons which were found screaming, scared and with a severe memory loss. Of course, this is the frightening beginning of an adventure that will take you beyond our normal reality and into a universe where everything that could be real is not.

The main gameplay mechanic is that the psychiatrist can enter the minds of the patients and actually play out situations in the characters’ past that are relevant to the present day. It's pretty nice and does offer a good game experience backed up by a story that can scare but that also delivers on the emotional level.

The game offers plenty of scares and interesting moments but it also has some dull moments, as covered by our own glorious review. One of the most interesting elements is the way the game manages to capture emotion in the various people in the game using a dedicated technology for realistic facial expressions, called EMotion™ FX 2. This adds to the depth of a game, as you get to see a set of six characters presenting their experiences while also adding new elements to the core story.
